This is a 1973 Toledo from Aberdeen, Scotland. Here is the owner's story in his own words.
"I have been a Dolomite owner since I was 19 when I bought my 1973 1850. It was a lovely car but hadn't been on the road for about 10 years and needed a fair bit of resto work. Money was a bit tight and I landed up selling it to a local bloke with a 1500 who needed parts. I also owned an Austin 1300 at the time which was road legal so spent most of my time and money on that - until the bulkhead rotted away!
"My current car was bought 2 years ago. My beloved Toledo 1300. Bought it, with 90k on the clock, from a guy not far from my house who was only the 2nd owner. He bought it only a few weeks previous for his wife but she didnt like it! I snapped it up with service history, old mots and original sales receipt for £600.00. I drove it until the clutch packed in on my way back from my mate's wedding (groom's car!) and left it to sit. The MOT run out and it sat outside during the winter, exposed to the famous Scottish weather, for 5 months.
"Spring came and I decided to see how an MOT would go. It failed on a tyre and a couple of bulbs but the front wings and panel were very rusty! I am about to offend purists here so if you are scared of modifications don't read on! I painted the car blue with hammerite (don't kill me its a temp thing til money situation improves!), Cherrybomb backbox, Weber filter and MGF wheels using Freelander studs and Metro nuts! The car has been my daily driver for the past 10 months and has needed only a new set of leads and a slave cylinder."
